Recover Together, Recover Stronger to Close Gender Gap

Guided by the theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”, the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women Empowerment (G20 MCWE) 2022 will be a joint event involving elements of the Government and non-Government of the G20 members.

The event will offer an opportunity to expand discussions and hear best practices, lesson learned, challenges, opportunities as well as future collaborations with related G20 stakeholders on how to scale up women empowerment issues, focusing on the 3 (three) main topics:

  1. Care Economy Post Covid-19: The Missing Opportunity in the Labour Market;
  2. Closing Digital Gender Gap: Women’s Participation in the Digital Economy and Future Work; and
  3. Women’s Entrepreneurship: Accelerating Equality, Accelerating Recovery.

G20 MCWE INDONESIA


Objectives
  • To identify and capture the global landscape, future trend, and trajectory of G20 member countries on the issues of women empowerment, particularly those related to three priority issues of the care economy, digital gender gap, and women in SMEs.
  • To broaden the discussion with relevant G20 stakeholders including the government, private sector, civil society, academia, development experts, and others, on how to scale up women’s empowerment issues, with a focus on the three issues, including identifying opportunities, challenges and future collaboration.
  • To share G20 member countries’ good practices and lessons learned in women empowerment issues related to the three topics of discussion, including providing a point of action for the development of adaptive approaches to support women empowerment policy post-COVID-19.
  • To develop recommendations for the G20 Leaders Meeting from the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women’s Empowerment on the implementation of tangible approaches to women empowerment action-oriented policy and programme.

Participants: 
The participants of this event are Ministers in charge of gender equality and women’s empowerment from all G20 member countries, as well as representatives from international organizations, private sectors, academia, and civil society organisations will attend the G20 MCWE.

Event format:  The conference will take on a hybrid format. The offline conference will be held in Sofitel Nusa Dua Beach Resort, Bali, Indonesia, and online participants will join through the CISCO Webex platform.
